Obviously, a couple bathroom towel racks in the bathroom is pretty much a standard of homes throughout the United States, if not the world. Having them in a handy place, near the tub or the washbasin, is essential to the hygiene and cleanliness of millions of families.
But did you know that bathroom towel racks can do some other nifty tricks in your home and aren't necessarily just for the bathroom?
Chrome Towel Hooks
For the moment, let's stay in the bath and look at some other ways you can add useful space to hang stuff without making your bathroom look cluttered or unkempt. As you know, the back of the bathroom door is a veritable wasteland of unused space. While some people add a hook or two on it to hang a bathrobe, you can take advantage of this space to add more towels or an area to dry your wet towels, bathing suit or lingerie.
While you could conceivably mount bathroom towel bars on the back of the door, a better idea is to mount them on the wall instead. This does two things. First, it doesn't add any extra weight to the door. Several towel racks with wet garments or towels on them can put extra stress on the door hardware and make it just a little harder for the wee ones in your family to easily open the door. Mounting the racks there can also be problematic, since a lot of doors are hollow core, lacking the hard points needed for the mounting hardware and screws.
The wall, however, is perfect for this and it's easy to find the studs, use molly bolts, or other hardware to secure the towel bars to the wall. Just be sure that the area behind the door has enough space so you can open the door fully. You don't want one end of the rack (or racks) to stick out too far, preventing the door from having its full range of motion. And there's no harm in adding more than one rack to the space to get even more storage out of it.
Bathroom towel racks can also work their magic in the bedroom, well, closet to be exact. You can mount towel racks in the closet and put them to good use. You can use them to organize your scarves, belts, ties... what have you. You can even use them to hang your larger pieces of jewelry that seem to be taking over your jewelry box.
You can also use them to complete the air-drying of your nylons, tights or leggings. As you know, it can be pretty embarrassing to have your unmentionables out for all to see in the bathroom or laundry room. By placing bathroom towel racks in the closet, they can be out of sight and out of mind until they finish drying so they can be put away.
Of course, bathroom towel racks can come in pretty handy in the garage, too. If you like to tinker with your cars or do woodworking or any other type of garage-oriented hobby, you can install racks to hold your shop towels. As you know, you can go through a lot of paper towels in the garage and a rack can allow you to use shop towels instead, keeping them within arm's reach wherever you are working. Not only do bathroom shop towels keep them close, but they can air dry in between uses, allowing them to be used just a bit longer before you either have to wash them or dispose of them.
As you can see, bathroom towel racks have chameleon-like qualities that will make them indispensable throughout the home.
